Contingency Leadership Style
Contingency leadership style is a theory that believe leadership style should be depend on leaders, followers and situation. Managing style should be change depend on situation and circumstances. Hence there is no best style.
Contingency Leadership Model
Contingency leadership model is used to determine if one is task-oriented or relationship-oriented. It is determined by using Least Preferred Co-worker Scale (LPC Scale). Situational Favorableness is also determined to understand leader-member relations, task structure and position power.
Leadership Continuum Model
A theory that use boss-centered leadership and subordinate-centered leadership to determine 7 different leadership style which are
- Manager makes decision
- Manager sells decision
- Manager present ideas and invites questions
- Manager present ideas but decision is subject to change
- Manager present problem and get suggestion to make decision
- Manager defines limit and let follower make decision
- Manager permit subordinate to make decision within defined limit
Path-goal Leadership Style
This theory is used to select leadership style based on the situation that consider employee, task and environment characteristic. The leadership style are as follow:
- Directive Style
- Supportive Style
- Participative Style
- Achievement-oriented Style
Prescriptive Leadership Style & Descriptive Leadership Style
In prescriptive leadership style, leader makes the decision before hand while in descriptive leadership style, leader make decision instantaneous based on factors.
Normative Decision Model
A theory used to identify the best decision to make, modeling an idea decision maker who is able to compute with perfect accuracy and fully rational. The idea decision will either be made by leader with no involvement of followers or leader taking information from followers but decide by himself.
Vroom Leadership Style
This theory start with leader making decision alone then leader consult individually, followed by leader consult in a group, then leader facilitate meeting to make decision, followed by the leader let the group discuss and make decision
