Background

Dynamic of Leadership (UPPF 6033) is a general university subject offered by UTM School of Education, under Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Department of Educational Foundation and Social Sciences. This course taught by Dr Jamilah binti Ahmad.


Introduction

This course is aim to encourage discovering and developing of personal leadership quality. Many leadership theories will be introduced in this course to develop an insight of dynamic relationship based on mutual influence and common goal between leader and followers.


Course Synopsis

This course is intended to encourage discovery and development of personal leadership qualities. Leadership theories will be introduced to develop an insight that leadership itself is a dynamic relationship based on mutual influence and common purpose between leaders and followers. The topics covered by this course include Introduction to Leadership, Leadership Traits & Ethics, Leadership Behaviour and Motivation, Influencing: Power, Politics, Networking and Negotiation, Contingency Leadership Theories, Communication, Coaching, and Conflict Skills, The Leader-Follower Relationship, Team Leadership, Leading Self-Managed Teams, Transformational and Level 5 Leadership. The outcome will be evaluated based on class leadership role, short talk and personal learning portfolios.


Learning Outcome

CLO1 - Evaluate the models of leadership, their strengths, criticisms and application.

CLO2 - Communicate clearly and confidently on how leaders nurture leadership qualities and skills.

CLO3 - Demonstrate autonomy, leadership and responsibility in managing presentation on leadership challenges.

CLO4 - Create a continuous e-portfolio to improve individual leadership skills towards a great leader.
